About the Westlake Hills neighborhood

Rolling hills and mature trees are a hallmark of the Westlake area.  It is the remotest of the Central Austin neighborhoods, but also close to shopping and dining options along Bee Cave Road (aka FM 2244) as well as the nearby Barton Creek Mall.  And even as the furthest out, it is still a short drive to downtown Austin. 

There are many smaller subdivisions commonly referred to under the umbrella of Westlake Hills, including Rollingwood, Davenport Ranch, Treemont, Lost Creek, Bee Cave Woods, Westwood, Woodhaven, and more.  People settle here for the schools, privacy, and proximity to downtown.

History of the neighborhood

The village of West Lake Hills itself was founded in 1953.  Development was slow to take off as residents raised funds for city services like a fire engine. In the 1970s and 1980s development  quickly picked up pace.
