Spruce up your home this Spring with Made Interiors
There’s something about the Spring season that makes me want to do a major refresh on my home interior. While cleaning my house from top to bottom is a start, what I really crave is a fresh look and feel to my décor. As a do-it-yourself-er, I was super excited to stumble onto Made Interiors in the 26 Doors Shopping Center on 35th Street.
I was scouting locations for a photo shoot and saw cute little store front with a front window filled with stylish chairs, fluffy pillows, and on-trend accents. Even though I was on a time crunch (isn’t that always the case?) I made a beeline to the front door.
As I walked in my eyes opened wide at the glorious rows of fabric hanging in the back of the shop. I wanted to see them all, touch them all. This, I realized, is what my kids must feel like when I take them to Terra Toys. Oh, it was heaven!
After seeing the store, I knew I had to know more, so I met up with owner Amanda Haynie. Check out our interview with Amanda for the scoop on this hidden treasure:
There are other fabric shops in Austin, but unless you want to buy from a big box store, most of the truly custom fabric shops only sell to the trade. I was beyond excited to learn that Made Interiors will sell their fabrics directly to the end consumer. Yeah! And they carry hundreds of fabrics in stock, as well as material that can be custom-ordered. Double yeah!
But it’s not all fabrics. Made Interiors offers a variety of other products and services too. As you’d expect, they provide custom upholstery services for simple items like pillows to more in-depth projects like furniture upholstery. Window treatments? Check. Crib skirts and bumpers? Yep. A new bedspread? Of course. If it’s made with fabric, they can create it.
They also provide custom furniture services. If you can’t find a sofa (or a chair or ottoman and so on) in the size or style you need, they can have it made for you -- and cover it in divine fabric of your choosing. It was all I could do to not buy the gorgeous green velvet sofa in the show room. Sigh…
If you’re a junker like me, you’ll also love their Annie Sloan chalk paint. Just take an old piece of furniture and paint it with Annie Sloan chalk paint for a completely new look. No sanding or primer needed! From trash to treasure in the amount of time it takes the paint to dry, fresh paint is a resourceful way to spruce up your home for low cost.
Not a DIYer? Don’t worry. Made Interiors also offers interior design assistance to give your décor a face lift. Whether you have a distinct vision of what you want or need help figuring it out, Amanda and her team can create something distinctive.
Plus, the shop has lots of cute accent items that make great gifts. With candles, macrame planters, and art, Made Interiors is worth exploring even if you aren’t in the market for fabric or furniture.
With Made Interiors’ resources, you can make small changes to your home’s interior that will have a positive impact on your home’s overall look. Stop by and visit with Amanda and her team the next time you’re in the area. And be sure to tell her we sent you!
